What to Expect at Your First Virtual Physiotherapy Appointment
If you’ve never had a virtual physiotherapy appointment before, you might be wondering what the first visit will be like. In many ways, it’s very similar to an in-person physiotherapy visit. Let’s walk through what you can expect.
Before your appointment, you’ll receive an email with a secure video link. When it’s time for your appointment, you simply click the link to join, similar to a FaceTime or Zoom call. Once we’re connected, we start with a conversation about you, your pain, and how it’s affecting your life.
Next, I’ll guide you through a few simple movements so I can observe how your body is moving. We might look at things like range of motion, strength, balance, and how your body responds to certain movements, all guided through video.
From there, we create a plan together based on your goals and what feels right for you.

Virtual physiotherapy can help with many common concerns, including back pain, neck pain, joint pain, muscle injuries, pelvic pain, arthritis, fibromyalgia, and chronic pain. Some people also come for help building an exercise program, becoming more active, or getting back to activities they enjoy. Others are simply looking for advice or a different perspective on an ongoing issue.
